Hi everyone,
Happy New Year to you all! I celebrated my 30th birthday
a few weeks ago – and when I say ‘celebrated’, I made it a night to
remember (I also made sure I was sober enough to remember it in the
morning!).
Highlights of the last few gigs are definitely New Years Eve at the
Woodford Folk Festival. I feel like I played with more passion and
intensity than I have ever done in my life; and my
band was absolutely cooking!
On Australia Day I was fortunate enough to play bass for Mark
Easton. That was the first show in a long time where I didn’t have
to open my mouth to sing once – and I really appreciated the change.
Nominations for the 2008 Australian Blues Music
(Chain) Awards have just been announced. I’m very grateful to have
been nominated this year for ‘Best Female Vocal’. The winners are
announced on February 7. Of course it would be lovely to add another
trophy to my collection, but I feel it’s a privilege just to be
nominated, so thanks everyone for the support.
As you know there’s been a line-up change to the
touring band recently, with Sam Buckley stepping in on guitar. If
you haven’t heard Sam play yet, do yourself a favour and get along
to a gig soon. This guy is ON FIRE!!!! Dennis (Wood, my faithful
drummer) says that Sam is going to be the death of us…………… in an
entirely positive way; he means that we will expire from exhaustion
in trying to keep up with Sam’s youthful exuberance!!
I look forward to the shows coming up in the
next couple of months. Many of them are new venues for us so we hope
to leave them begging for more of the Anni Piper experience.
Until next time take care,
Anni
