The Whistleblower

An anthem for those who have the courage to speak.

Stranger, look into my face;
There’s but a trace of the child before.
Go on dig into my past;
Old photographs won’t show what’s in store.
Tell my mother and my father please, not to weep anew.
They don’t need to add their shame to all the hell that I’ve lived through.

Oh the wheels grind slow now,
But I feel them roll with every note.
Oh circle the crows now
To feed on the words that spill from my throat.

They are:

"Listen up I am the whistleblower,
It’s time you paid the piper’s toll!
I never thought I’d be the whistleblower.
Tonight you’re gonna take a mighty fall."

Oh oh oh oh.......

If you ask me what you’ll find
Just what’s behind the Mona Lisa smile
You won’t look at me the same
You’ll remain unsettled for a while
I remember every tear I was near drowning in the flood
Of something bitter and so stale and it flows much thicker than blood

Oh the wheels grind slow now
But I feel them roll with every note
Oh circle the crows now
To feed on the words that spill from my throat.

They are:

"Listen up I am the whistleblower,
It’s time you paid the piper’s toll!
I never thought I’d be the whistleblower.
Tonight you’re gonna take a mighty fall."

Oh oh oh oh.......
